A place for the divinely creative to connect

Kalel is an amazing gospel artist and his lifestyle reflects the very lyrics that he speaks. 1 Corinthians 7:32 states that "....an unmarried man is concerned about the
Lord’s affairs—how he can please the Lord." Kalel is certainly devoting his life to the Lord by preaching the gospel to all nations (Matthew 28:10); beyond the four walls of the church. He is the founder of H2o Flow Ministries which takes gospel to the streets and restores, builds up and delivers souls of many from the homeless to
business professionals. To learn more about H2o Flow Ministries, visit - www.kalelworld.com. You will surely enjoy his single, "Love A Little More", a gospel
spin/remix of Diddy's - Dirty Money "Loving You No More". Like Jesus we have to speak in parables, in our generations language, and Hip Hop is where it is at! Come and get more acquainted with our Artist of the Month Kalel with our interview! Also, follow Kalel @kalelmusic via twitter.
1. What influenced you to spread your soulful gospel words through music?
I grew up at West Angeles COGIC in California and was blessed to serve under the leadership of Dr. Judith McAllister in the Worship and Arts Department so I have
always had an amazing example of how powerful the ministry of music can be and how important our words are in music. Life and death is in the power of the tongue
so I ultimately chose to speak life with my music to promote the kingdom and not myself.
2. Who is your favorite Artist? Why?
My favorite Artist is Michael Jackson. Need I say more? He is someone that always set a standard of excellence in everything that he did and he continually strived to
perfect his gifts and out do his last accomplishment.
3. What is your mission to make a change in this generation?
My mission is to let people know that you can be fly, have swag and still worship the Lord in Spirit and in Truth. Today's music is over saturated with negativity and
imagery that is contrary to the word of God so it motivates me to be able to present a comparable alternative that reflects Christ.
4. What is your favorite Scripture? Why?
My favorite scripture would definitely have to be John 4:23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth:
for the Father seeketh such to worship him.
The Father is still seeking for true worship and its because most of what goes on today isn't really worship. NOW is the time for the TRUE worshipers to worship Him in Spirit and in Truth. This is a heart issue for believers. It's not what we sing about but who we are and how we treat each other that matters to God. At the end of the day what I do should ultimately bring glory to God
5. What do you like to do on your free time/hobbies?
Im a movie fanatic! I love going to the movies opening weekend to catch all the newest flicks! It's funny because I have a whole process of getting all the right candy and refreshments so that I can truly enjoy my movie going experience.
6. What is the last book you've read?
The last book I read was, Great By Choice, by Jim Collins and this was an outstanding book on leadership.
7. What do you consider your greatest achievement to date?
My greatest achievement to date would be the day I received Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior into my heart for real. It will always remain the best day of my life because
it was the day I was truly set free from the bondage of sin. The best decision and achievement EVER!
8. When and Where, were you the happiest?
It's funny you ask that because as a believer I try not to seek to be happy anymore as the world would understand it, because that emotion typically comes when
something "happens". God has given me a joy and a peace that sustains me consistently and it surpasses moments of happiness. Everyday with Jesus is sweeter than the day before so I live with expectation of His goodness everyday in all things.
9. What three adjectives best describe your leadership style?
efficient, creative, focused
10. What was your favorite journey to date?
My favorite journey to date would have to be a mission trip I took to Japan that enabled me to tour the country doing what I love, share my music and spread the gospel. It was an amazing and life changing experience.
11. What is your greatest fear?
God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power love and a sound mind! I don't walk with fear cause I move by FAITH!
12. What living person do you most admire?
I most admire my mother for her discipline and her never ending ability to sacrifice for the sake of others especially when it comes to our family. My mother is constantly doing outreach activities locally and abroad, feeding the homeless, doing prison ministry and the list goes on. She always challenges me to push myself for the kingdoms sake and her life is my example.
13. What secret indulgence of yours would surprise people?
HAHAHA! Mint Oreo cookies just became my most recent addiction! I had some about a month ago and have been eating bags of them since. I return to get a 2nd pack when Im down to my last row of cookies just in case of emergence! lol

Devil’s Advocate
I did not break a bead of sweat
As It breathed upon my neck
Pulling a card up from the deck
I had not played mine just yet
From that It seemed upset
With blazing eyes
And a puffed up chest
My feet shackled like the rest
Our last meeting was just a test
Would I call it’s jest
Or bare my flesh for it to digest like the rest
I decided best to not quit just yet
Back to the Box I’m…

Mr. Blue Suit
Prison recruit
Fang in the beast’s tooth
Sitting behind the booth
Denyin’ the truth
They been lyin’ to you
You’re just a tool to be used
They’re confinin’ you too
But you think highly of you
Badges and pins accrued
Shined shoes
But what do they do?
Fool you
Like a Superman crest on the chest
Ground shakin’ steps
You soar above the rest
Of us mere mortals
Locked…

*Song - Here to Stay by Christina Aguilera
Who is God to you?
God is my BFF -- my Homie. The one knows me better that I know myself, and the one who I can be fully real with without fear of judgement. ... I mean, come on--- he already knows. LoL
():)
What has He done for you personally?
Hahaha, tough one! Because I really can't pinpoint one specific thing, especially since I believe that by doing so, I would completely undermine too many other magnificent things that have brought me to where I am now. So, in short, I would probably say the ability to recognize his greatness and be appreciative for his masterfulness, as it's only for that gift he's bestowed upon me, am I able to really grow and appreciate all of the struggles challenges and successes in my life thus far.
What does being a Christian mean to you?
Basically, that I am held more accountable for the things I do... And furthermore, for the things I haven't done and should have. - And that it is required of me to humble myself and be more empathetic to others.
